This collection, I was inspired by a kabuki Play called “Kuruwa Bunsho” (Love letter from the Pleasure Quarters), traditional Japanese theatre that originated in Edo period (17th centurey)
The story goes, the young master of the wealthy household, Izaemon, was disowned by his family for becoming too infatuated with his courtesan lover Yugiri. After sometime, he finally goes back to visit her at the Yoshidaya tea house. They are meeting under the willow tree to be together again. This scene is a small part in the story, but I wanted to express this scenery into my own interpretation on my collection.
