What is Mitsuro Hikime?
It is a traditional Japanese lost wax technique.
Mitsu means honey, Ro means wax, Hiki means draw out, Me means texture. This beautiful wax was perfected about 1300 years ago.
I make my own wax using only natural ingredients, rather than using the popular wax generally available on the market.
When I stretch the mitsuro wax, using the thumbs and fingers so intensively, I sometimes forget to breathe but the reward of my breathlessness is unbeatable. The lines created in the wax are what I feel at that moment, and that moment is so important.
